Entwistle HV58+ZB, Alnico V Humbucker Pickup

The classic late ’50s humbucker, made to original vintage specs. Enamel coated winding wire, scatterwound coils and Alnico 2 magnetics. Entwistle use an Alnico 2 bar as it provides a more diffused secondary field and behaves as if the magnet is 50 years old. Unlike modern pickups the HV58s are not vacuum processed as this reduces the natural gaps in the windings and it is theses gaps that are at the very source of the vintage sound.
Covered versions of the HV58 are potted in hot wax for around 60 seconds and have a slightly different tone to the open frame HV58s which are not ‘potted’ at all as they are designed to replicate the earliest PAF’s and are fine if you use them with a classic amp (AC30, Fender Twin, Marshall 50 etc) but will have a tendency to squeal when used with modern high gain amps.
The HV 58 Plus is basically the same pickup as the HV58 ZB but wound a little hotter to give more power whilst retaining the vintage PAF tonal characteristics.

Unlike modern pickups our HV58’s are not vacuum processed as this reduces the natural gaps in the windings and it is theses gaps that are at the very source of the vintage sound. The open frame HV58 ZB and covered versions of the HV58 are potted in hot wax for around 60 seconds and are less prone to feedback but have a slightly different tone.
